Losing My Religion (Revelation Part 1)

I’m not very fond of religion… and neither was Jesus. Religion is about the actions, emotions, and knowledge required to reach some spiritual goal. But it’s too easy for us to get into the actions and the emotions and the knowledge as if those things are ends in themselves. It’s too easy for us to get distracted from the true spiritual goals.

That’s why Jesus so vehemently opposed the religious leaders of his day. That’s why Jesus so vigorously supported a simple relationship with God over anything else.

It’s so easy for us to turn faith in Jesus and a relationship with him into a religion, but in this series, we’ll be having a conversation about what Jesus really wants from his followers.
